Our team consists of architects, educators, fabricators, carpenters, textile artists and filmmakers, all dedicated to providing an immersive and enriching educational experience.

  • Christian Zenga holds a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art+ Design and a Masters of Architecture from the University of Toronto. He is an interdisciplinary artist, architect, and filmmaker who works primarily in sculpture and large-scale public installations. His practices engage with ideas of citizen-initiated architecture and craft, and the merger of the built environment with nature.

  • Benny Zenga is an artist and filmmaker who has worked as a Director, Camera Operator and Editor on films and TV productions for MTV, Red Bull, VICE, Travel+Escape Network. He works in live event production for top-tier production companies Stage Vision and Showkraft. Benny and the Zenga Bros have been called "engineers of happiness" and their videos continue to leave a lasting impression on audiences worldwide.

  • Emily Zenga brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and creative energy to SoDE. Emily holds a Master of Design from Emily Carr University of Arts and Design and has devoted much of her time to fostering environments that encourage learning by making. She has been producing arts and culture programming since 2010 and has been in leadership roles in post-secondary industrial design and fashion education since 2018.

    Emily is cofounder of the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire, Maker Foundation, and Vancouver Fibreshed. She has produced youth mentorship programs and field schools in partnership with Emily Carr University, Material Matters and Shumka Centre, Two Rivers Gallery, ITA BC (Maker Clubs), VIVO Media Arts Centre, and the Vancouver Parks Board .She has taught at SFU, Emily Carr and LaSalle College.

  • Willy Zenga Is an interdisciplinary artist, writer and community facilitator. Working primarily with textiles as a means to create expressive and joyful environments, Willys practice explores a vernacular handmade aesthetic that is built upon a belief that the colorful and eccentric is always better than gray uniformity. Willy brings a myriad of technical skills to the SoDE Team.

  • Aaron Zenga holds a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design and a Red Seal in Fabrication from BCIT. He is the principal fabricator and owner of Shelter Studio, a metal-centric design and build studio, compelled by the vision of creating spaces and objects that are fascinating and thoughtfully designed.
