METHOD

Our mission is to create engaging environments where young people can learn to design, make and celebrate, and in doing so, build confidence, foster creativity and spark interest in STEAM and hands-on learning as a whole.

Today, in our digitally interconnected world there is a need to inspire people to believe that they can change their world with their own two hands.

SoDE opens up and invites you in to share in the enjoyment and transformative experience of building dream worlds.

The goal of SoDE is to foster gathering, collaboration, and unselfconscious creation, along with knowledgeable, confident tool use.

Our practice recognizes three stages: Design, Make, Celebrate.

DESIGN

We begin by encouraging curiosity, investigation and play to develop new ideas. From there we teach participants how to move ideas into reality. Some of the tools and techniques we introduce them to are model making, prototyping, CAD and exploring potential construction processes.

MAKE

We guide participants on how to work safely using a variety of tools and materials. SoDE is outfitted with a wide variety of tools, allowing participants to move between modules and experiment freely, while being supported by experienced guides.

 

CELEBRATE

We believe creativity is an inherently joyful act. Throughout the whole process we encourage playfulness, experimentation and non-judgement. When the projects are complete, we celebrate the participants successes no matter how small or large. Collectively, the participants will share in the enjoyment and transformational experience of building dream worlds together.
